Non-Bordered Soft Silicone Foam Dressing with Advanced Exudate Management

Mepilex® XT is a highly conformable, non-bordered foam dressing with integrated exudate channels designed to absorb both low- and high-viscosity exudates. It supports a moist wound environment while minimizing the risk of maceration. Featuring Safetac® soft silicone wound contact technology, the dressing reduces pain and trauma to the wound and surrounding skin during dressing removal. Mepilex® XT consists of a soft silicone contact layer, a flexible polyurethane foam absorbent pad, and a breathable yet waterproof outer polyurethane film.

Instructions for Use:

1. Cleanse the wound according to standard clinical practice.
2. Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
3. Select an appropriate dressing size. The dressing should overlap the surrounding skin by 3–5 cm for larger wound areas. The dressing may be cut to suit various wound shapes and anatomical locations.
4. Remove the first release film and apply the adherent side directly to the wound.
5. Remove the remaining release film and gently smooth the dressing onto the skin. Do not stretch the dressing.
6. If necessary, secure the dressing with a bandage or other suitable fixation method.
7. Change the dressing before it becomes fully saturated, if leakage occurs, or according to clinical protocol. Dressing wear time may extend to several days.
8. Dispose of used dressings in accordance with local environmental and clinical waste procedures.

Clinical Applications:

Mepilex® XT is intended for use on a wide range of acute and chronic exuding wounds at all stages of healing, including leg and foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, traumatic wounds, skin tears, and secondary healing wounds. It may be used by laypersons under the supervision of healthcare professionals and is well suited for patients requiring a gentle, high-absorbency foam dressing that supports effective exudate management, reduced pain at dressing changes, and protection of fragile or compromised skin.
