FAQs

What is Verruca-Freeze?

Verruca-Freeze is a portable, FDA-approved cryosurgical device for removing superficial skin lesions. It treats 21 types of benign lesions, including warts, skin tags, age spots, seborrheic keratoses, and molluscum. The system includes an aerosol canister with cone and bud applicators, available in various sizes. Verruca-Freeze is a convenient, cost-effective alternative to traditional liquid nitrogen methods, designed for hand-held use.

What types of lesions can be treated with Verruca-Freeze?

Verruca-Freeze is approved to treat a wide range of common benign skin lesions, including common warts, plantar warts, actinic keratoses, seborrheic keratoses, achrochordon (skin tags), and molluscum contagiosum.

How does Verruca-Freeze differ from traditional liquid nitrogen treatments?

Verruca-Freeze cryogen does not contain liquid nitrogen. It uses a non-flammable, refrigerated gas that freezes at -70°C (-94°F), offering the same results as liquid nitrogen without the extreme cold (-196°C) and associated safety concerns. Unlike liquid nitrogen, Verruca-Freeze is portable, does not require large tanks or refills, and can be disposed of with regular trash when empty.

Is the procedure painful?

Verruca-Freeze utilizes a self-anesthetizing effect due to its low temperature, which minimizes discomfort during the treatment process. Most patients report only mild sensations.

What is the freezing temperature of Verruca-Freeze?

Verruca-Freeze reaches -70°C (-94°F), the coldest among canister-based cryosurgical products. Since -50°C is sufficient for full lesion destruction, it achieves effective results without the extreme cold of liquid nitrogen at -196°C.

How should Verruca-Freeze be stored?

Store Verruca-Freeze canisters at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, and below 120°F. Keep all components in their original box or a Cryo Bag inside a medical cabinet. The canister has a pressure release valve at the bottom. Exposure to temperatures above 120°F may activate the valve, releasing the cryogen. When transporting in hot conditions, use a cooler to maintain temperatures below 120°F.

How long does a Verruca-Freeze treatment take?

The procedure is quick and efficient, typically lasting only 1-2 minutes, allowing both practitioners and patients to save valuable time while ensuring effective treatment.

How many treatments will I get from each canister?

The number of treatments per canister varies by applicator and lesion size. For an average 5mm lesion, expect 40-45 treatments from a 120ml canister, 45-50 treatments from a 135ml canister, 50-60 treatments from a 150ml canister, 65-70 treatments from a 175ml canister, and over 100 treatments from a 236ml canister. Smaller lesions may yield more treatments, while larger lesions may yield fewer. To conserve cryogen, apply gentle pressure to the trigger and avoid overspray by keeping the extender tube close to the bud tip during saturation.
