Description
Welch Allyn Connex 360 Vital Signs Monitor
95CXT-B – SureBP, Nellcor SpO2, SureTemp Thermometry, Wireless
The Welch Allyn Connex 360 is a next-generation, connected vital signs monitor built for low- to mid-acuity acute care environments. Designed with a profile-free workflow and a large 12.1-inch colour capacitive touchscreen, it allows clinical teams to capture and document a complete set of vitals in under one minute, and send results directly to the EMR without manual transcription.
This configuration (95CXT-B) includes Nellcor SpO2 technology, the SureTemp Plus oral/axillary/rectal thermometer, Welch Allyn's proprietary SureBP 20-second non-invasive blood pressure technology, and integrated Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) for wireless EMR connectivity.
Key Features At A Glance
- 12" Colour Touchscreen
- Integrated Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) for wireless EMR connectivity
- Continuously measure SpO2 and pulse rate with refreshed data once per second
- Customizable intervals monitoring programs for timed NIBP measurements and BP/PR averaging
- Profile-free intuitive navigation
- Take and document a full set of vitals in less than one minute and automatically send to the EMR
- Apply customizable Early Warning Score protocols (eg. MEWS, PEWS, NEWS2) to help detect patient deterioration and help provide clinical direction
- Document up to 20 fields of patient information for comprehensive bedside workflows
Key Clinical Parameters
The Connex 360 95CXT-B monitors the following parameters across adult, paediatric, and neonatal patient populations:
- Blood pressure: NIBP via SureBP (typical determination in 15 seconds) and StepBP; systolic, diastolic, and MAP
- SpO2: Nellcor pulse oximetry with 1-second refresh rate; measurement range 1–100%
- Temperature: SureTemp Plus predictive and direct modes; oral, axillary, and rectal measurement sites; range 26.7–43.3°C
- Pulse rate: continuous measurement with 1-second refresh
- Respiration rate (RRp): via optional Masimo RRp (not included in this configuration; available on 95RXT-B)
Profile-Free Workflows and Monitoring Modes
Unlike traditional vital signs monitors that require patient profile setup before use, the Connex 360 is designed for profile-free operation — reducing steps and supporting faster assessments at the bedside. Available monitoring modes include:
- Spot check — single point-in-time vitals capture
- Intervals monitoring — timed NIBP measurements with continuously measured SpO2 and pulse rate
- BP/PR averaging — multiple readings averaged for clinical accuracy
Up to six custom interval protocols can be configured to match facility workflows.
EMR Connectivity and Documentation
The 95CXT-B features integrated Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) for wireless transfer of patient vital signs data to the EMR via Baxter DeviceBridge, Connex CS/CSAS, HL7 Direct, or NCE. Wired Ethernet (RJ-45) connectivity is also supported. For facilities requiring wired-only connectivity, see the 94CXT-B.
Clinicians can document up to 20 additional fields at the bedside, including pain scale and intake and output (I&Os), for more comprehensive patient records. Imprivata Single Sign-On (SSO) and badge-tap authentication are supported for streamlined, secure clinician access.
Early Warning Scoring
The Connex 360 supports up to six customisable Early Warning Score protocols — including MEWS, PEWS, and NEWS2 — configurable via the Welch Allyn Product Configuration Tool. Custom scoring protocols and parameter modifiers allow facilities to implement their own clinical deterioration detection workflows.
Security and Compliance
The Connex 360 was developed with end-to-end security from design through deployment. Wireless security standards include WPA2 and WPA3 (Personal and Enterprise), with support for EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, PEAP, and mutual TLS authentication. Additional security features include:
- FIPS-approved encryption for data in transit
- TLS 1.3 and WPA3 support
- Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for hardware-level security
- High Assurance Boot (Secure Boot)
- Hardened Linux OS kernel with mandatory access controls (SELinux)
- Imprivata-ready authentication
The device meets IEC 60601-1, ISO 81060-2, IEC 60601-1-8, and related standards. Ingress protection rating: IP22. Degree of protection: Type BF defibrillator proof.
